Can you explain to the public , why you decided to become an Orthotist and Prosthetist?

I have always had a 'calling' to help people . I enjoy working with my hands and wanted to study something in the medical field. This profession is the best of both worlds

What is the difference between an Orthotist and Prosthetist?

An Orthotist measures ,makes and fits any form of 'Orthosis' from innersoles  ( 'Orthotics') to neck braces and everything in between. An Orthotist will also measure for compression stockings and assess for mobility aids such as wheelchairs and walkers. 

A Prosthetist assesses, manufactures and fits any form of Prosthesis . From an artificial toe up to a full arm prosthesis with a micro processor hand

What is the difference between working in a hospital and out patients setting ?

Hospital work generally the same kinds of items for patients who have had surgery. Knee braces, back braces, anti embolic stockings, crutches

Out patients is much more varied and generally more sports oriented people. Running orthotics, sports knee braces

2020 has been a year to remember regarding the COVID_19 Pandemic. How has the pandemic effected you positivity?

We have put measures in place in our practices that have streamlined certain processes. 

We upskilled our front office staff during the lockdown with soft skills relating to dealing with patients over the phone and other admin skills.
